Private, British Army
Adam Herbert Wakenshaw was an English soldier serving in the British Army during the Second World War. Serving as a Private, he performed acts of conspicuous gallantry that earned him the British Empire's highest military decoration for valor.
His courageous actions in the face of the enemy led to his posthumous decoration. His Victoria Cross was later presented to his widow and son by King George VI at Buckingham Palace in March 1943.
Today, his memory and extraordinary heroism are preserved through the public display of his Victoria Cross medal in Durham City, England, serving as a lasting testament to his sacrifice.
