Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy

Adolphus Staton was a career officer in the United States Navy who reached the rank of Rear Admiral. Born in Tarboro, North Carolina, he pursued a naval career starting with his education at the United States Naval Academy, graduating with the class of 1902.
Throughout his distinguished service in the Navy, Staton was recognized with the nation's highest military decorations for his valor and leadership. He was a recipient of the Medal of Honor, which represents the pinnacle of military recognition in the United States, as well as the Navy Cross, the Navy's second-highest award for extraordinary heroism.
After a long and dedicated career of service to his country, Rear Admiral Staton retired from active duty. He lived out his remaining years in Maryland, passing away in Chevy Chase.
