Sergeant, U.S. Army
Alan Louis Eggers was a sergeant in the United States Army who served during World War I. He was a student at Cornell University before departing for military service, and he was later awarded the degree of "War Alumnus" in 1921.
Sergeant Eggers received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in combat near Le Catelet, France, on September 29, 1918. He performed these deeds alongside fellow soldiers John C. Latham and Thomas E. O'Shea while serving with the U.S. Army.
For his exceptional service and bravery, Eggers was also decorated with several high-ranking foreign awards, including the British Distinguished Conduct Medal, the French Médaille militaire and Croix de guerre, and honors from Italy, Montenegro, and Portugal.
