Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Commander, Royal Navy
Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Drummond Borton, VC, CMG, DSO, was a highly decorated English officer who served during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He earned the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces, for his exceptional bravery and leadership on the battlefield.
His distinguished military career spanned multiple campaigns, beginning with service in South Africa. He later went on to serve during the First World War, where he earned multiple decorations for valor and distinguished service while serving in both military and naval capacities, including service as an officer in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
In addition to the Victoria Cross, Borton was appointed as a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George and a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order. He was also honored by foreign governments, receiving prestigious decorations from Egypt and the Russian Empire in recognition of his service.
