Quartermaster Sergeant, U.S. Army
Daniel Armer Kelly was an American soldier who served in the United States Army during the American Civil War. He held the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant and is remembered for his dedicated service during one of the nation's most turbulent eras.
Kelly achieved his place in military history during the Battle of Waynesboro, Virginia, on March 2, 1865. His actions during the engagement were deemed so extraordinary that he was awarded the nation's highest military decoration for bravery, the Medal of Honor.
He was officially presented with the Medal of Honor on March 26, 1865, just weeks after his heroic actions. Kelly's legacy remains preserved as a recipient of the United States' premier award for valor in combat.
