Naik, British Raj
Naik Fazal Din was a Pakistani recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He served in the British Indian Army during World War II. During the Burma Campaign, his section came under fire, and he was mortally wounded. Despite his injuries, he led a counter-attack and single-handedly eliminated an enemy bunker before succumbing to his wounds.
His extraordinary courage and self-sacrifice earned him the Victoria Cross posthumously, marking him as one of the most celebrated heroes of the campaign.
