Frederick George Coppins was a Canadian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and other Commonwealth forces. He was born in Charing, Kent, England and served with the Queen's Own prior to the outbreak of the First World War. He emigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. He was living in Edmonton at the time of enlistment. He signed up to the 19th Alberta Dragoons.
