Captain Gerard Ross 'Toys' Norton was a South African recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He served in the South African Army, demonstrating exemplary bravery during his service.
His courageous actions earned him widespread recognition as one of South Africa's most decorated servicemen. In addition to the Victoria Cross, he was also awarded the Military Medal for his distinguished conduct in the field.
