Biography

Henry A. McMasters was a United States Army Corporal who served during the American Indian Wars. He is most notable for his actions in combat on September 29, 1872, in Red River, Texas, where he engaged in battle with the Kotsoteka band of the Comanche nation.

For his conspicuous bravery during this engagement, McMasters was awarded the Medal of Honor on November 19, 1872. His actions represented the highest standards of military service and valor in the face of the enemy.
