Captain, U.S. Army
Henry H. Crocker was a Union Army officer during the American Civil War. He served with distinction, demonstrating exceptional bravery in the line of duty during some of the conflict's most intense engagements in the Virginia theater.
Crocker is best remembered for his conspicuous gallantry during the Battle of Cedar Creek on October 19, 1864. This critical engagement, fought near Middletown, Virginia, was the decisive battle of Major General Philip Sheridan's Valley Campaigns of 1864 and marked the largest battle fought in the Shenandoah Valley.
For his heroic actions during the battle, Captain Crocker was awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military decoration for valor. His leadership and courage under fire during this pivotal Union victory cemented his legacy as a distinguished Civil War veteran.
