Sergeant, British Army
Henry William Engleheart was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He served in the British Army, eventually reaching the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant. He was among the last group of five soldiers to receive the Victoria Cross directly from Queen Victoria before her death.
Following his death, his twin sons honored his wishes in 1977 by donating his military medals to the 10th Hussars regimental museum. Today, his decorations are displayed for the public at The King's Royal Hussars Museum in Winchester.
