Herbert Taylor Reade

Surgeon General Herbert Taylor Reade was a Canadian-born recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious military decoration for gallantry in the face of the enemy awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Reade served in the British Army during a period of significant imperial conflicts. His actions in the field earned him widespread recognition, culminating in the presentation of the Victoria Cross for his conspicuous bravery under fire.

In addition to the Victoria Cross, Reade's distinguished career and long service were recognized with his appointment as a Companion of the Order of the Bath. Today, his legacy is preserved in military museums across the United Kingdom and Canada.
