Second Lieutenant, British Army
John Harrison was a professional rugby league footballer who played for Hull F.C. He later became a British Army officer, serving during the First World War. He is remembered as a distinguished soldier who displayed immense bravery on the battlefield.
During his military service in the First World War, Harrison rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant in the British Army. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
