Biography

Wounded while showing distinguished bravery at Petersburg

James G. Clark was born October 31, 1843, in Germantown, Pennsylvania. No reliable prewar occupation or family details were located. He served in Company F, 88th Pennsylvania Infantry; CMOHS records his rank for the action as private and his highest rank as drummer. At Petersburg on June 18, 1864, he showed distinguished bravery and was severely wounded. The Medal of Honor was presented April 30, 1892.

Clark died December 16, 1911, and was buried at Fernwood Cemetery, Pennsylvania. His Medal of Honor and Army Civil War Campaign Medal entitlement are included.
