First Lieutenant James Isaac Christiancy was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Serving with the U.S. Army, his dedication and bravery during the conflict earned him a distinguished place in military history.
Christiancy received the country's highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his actions at Hawes Shops, Virginia on 28 May 1864. After displaying great valor in the face of the enemy, he was officially honored with the award nearly three decades later on 10 October 1892.
His legacy remains preserved as a recipient of the nation's most prestigious military decoration, representing the courage of the Union forces during some of the most intense cavalry and infantry clashes of the Civil War.
