James Pitts VC MSM was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He served as a Corporal in the British Army. His actions earned him the nation's highest military decoration for valor, which is currently preserved and displayed for the public.
In addition to his Victoria Cross, he was also awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. His legacy continues to be honored in England, including a public plaque unveiled in his honor at Blackburn town hall in 2019.
