Biography

General James Travers was an Irish-born officer of the Indian Army who received the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Throughout his distinguished career in the Indian Army, Travers rose to the rank of General. His service was defined by his conspicuous bravery under fire, which earned him the United Kingdom's premier award for valor.
