Biography
He rescued a drowning shipmate in the harbour near Yokohama.
Joseph Quick was a coxswain aboard USS Yorktown. At Yokohama, Japan, on April 27, 1902, he rescued Machinist Second Class Walenty Wisnieroski from drowning. His lifesaving heroism earned the Medal of Honor.
Born in New York in 1877, Quick died in Tampa, Florida, on June 27, 1969. He was buried at the Evergreens Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.

For heroism in rescuing Walenty Wisnieroski, Machinist Second Class, from drowning at Yokohama, Japan, 27 April 1902, while serving on board the U.S.S. Yorktown.
