Landsman, U.S. Navy
Landsman Lorenzo Denning was an American sailor who served in the United States Navy during the American Civil War. He is remembered for his conspicuous bravery during a hazardous naval operation in the latter stages of the conflict.
On 27 October 1864, Denning was serving aboard USN Picket Boat Number One. During a daring expedition, he performed actions of extreme gallantry that subsequently earned him the United States' highest military decoration for valor.
Although he was officially awarded the Medal of Honor on 31 December 1864, Denning unfortunately passed away before the physical medal could be presented to him, leaving behind a legacy of ultimate sacrifice and devotion to duty.
