Sergeant, British Army
Louis McGuffie VC was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He served as a soldier with the King's Own Scottish Borderers during the First World War.
He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty in late September 1918, during the Hundred Days Offensive. Tragically, he was killed in action just a few days after his heroic actions.
In 1971, a family member donated McGuffie's Victoria Cross alongside his campaign medals, including the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal, and the Victory Medal, to the Regimental Museum of The Kings Own Scottish Borderers in Berwick upon Tweed.
