Private First Class, U.S. Marine Corps
Robert Charles Burke was a United States Marine who posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War. Serving as a Private First Class, Burke was only 18 years old at the time of his death, making him the youngest Medal of Honor recipient of the Vietnam War.
His courageous actions in combat exemplified the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service. Private First Class Burke sacrificed his life while protecting his fellow Marines during intense hostile engagements in the conflict.
In addition to the Medal of Honor, Private First Class Burke's service was recognized with several other military decorations, including the Purple Heart Medal and key service medals from both the United States and the Republic of Vietnam.
