Warrant Officer Class One, Australian Army
Reginald Roy Inwood, VC was an Australian soldier who served with distinction during the First and Second World Wars. Enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force in August 1914 as part of the 10th Battalion, he was among the historic forces that landed at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, on 25 April 1915. He fought through the grueling Gallipoli campaign until he was evacuated due to illness to Egypt in September 1915.
After recovering, Inwood rejoined his unit on the Western Front in June 1916. He participated in several of the war's most intense actions, including the Battle of Mouquet Farm, the Battle of Lagnicourt, the Second Battle of Bullecourt, and the Battle of Menin Road. His actions on the battlefield earned him the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in battle available to Australian forces at the time.
Inwood returned to military service during World War II, continuing his dedication to his country. He eventually attained the rank of Warrant Officer Class One, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional bravery and lifelong service to the Australian Army.
