Biography

Samuel Belton Horne was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Serving with the U.S. Army, he demonstrated exceptional bravery during his military service and eventually rose to the rank of Captain.

On September 29, 1864, Horne performed actions of outstanding heroism at Fort Harrison, Virginia. For his valor during this engagement, he was recommended for the nation's highest military decoration.

Horne was officially honored with the Medal of Honor on November 19, 1897. His legacy remains as one of the distinguished recipients of the Civil War era.
