Colonel Thomas Cadell VC CB was a Scottish officer in the British Indian Army who served during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces, for his conspicuous bravery at Delhi in 1857.
During his military service in India, Cadell demonstrated exceptional courage under fire, particularly in rescuing wounded comrades under heavy enemy fire. His actions during the rebellion cemented his reputation as a highly decorated and gallant officer.
