He planted first flag on works then crossed back under fire!

Corporal Thomas Parker was a Union Army soldier of the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry who received the Medal of Honor for heroism during the American Civil War.

Verified service: 2d Rhode Island Infantry, Company B. At Sailor’s Creek on 6 April 1865, he planted the first color on the enemy works and carried the regimental colors across the creek after the regiment was repulsed. Born in England in 1822; died 27 April 1872; buried at Philadelphia Memorial Park Cemetery.
