Lieutenant, Canadian Army
Lieutenant Wallace Lloyd Algie was a Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) officer and a recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He served as a soldier with the CEF during the First World War. He was posthumously awarded the VC for his actions on 11 October 1918, during the Hundred Days Offensive, exactly a month before the armistice with Germany.
His courageous actions in the final weeks of the conflict cemented his legacy as one of Canada's distinguished war heroes of the Great War.
