Major Brevet Colonel, U.S. Army
William Donaldson Dickey was an American soldier who served in the United States Army during the American Civil War. He achieved the rank of Major and was later breveted as a Colonel in recognition of his service and actions on the battlefield.
He is most notably remembered for receiving the Medal of Honor, the United States' highest military decoration, for his valor and actions during the conflict. His service during the Civil War remains a distinguished part of the Union's military history.
