Lieutenant, British Indian Army
William David Kenny VC was a Lieutenant in the British Indian Army and an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, which is the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He served with distinction in the Indian Army, a service that is commemorated on major memorials such as the India Gate in Delhi, India, as well as in Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland, and Dundalk Grammar School in the Republic of Ireland.
His Victoria Cross is preserved and displayed for public viewing at the National Army Museum located in Chelsea, London.
