Biography
John William Alexander Jackson, VC, was an Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
During his military service, Jackson served with the Australian Army. He fought during the First World War, participating in major campaigns including the Gallipoli Campaign, the Battle of Hill 60, and operations on the Western Front.
He also answered the call to service during the Second World War, representing his nation in both major global conflicts of the twentieth century and cementing his legacy as a highly decorated Australian hero.
