Lieutenant, U.S. Navy

William Seach was an ordinary seaman in the United States Navy who distinguished himself through extraordinary heroism during the Boxer Rebellion in China. Serving with the international relief expedition in June 1900, Seach repeatedly demonstrated valor during several days of intense combat against Chinese Imperialist soldiers and Boxer militants, earning the Medal of Honor for his actions.
Over the course of multiple engagements between June 13 and June 22, 1900, Seach performed numerous feats of bravery. He participated in a crucial bayonet charge that repulsed a force of 300 enemy fighters, ran across open ground to neutralize sniper nests, defended vital gun emplacements from a cavalry charge, and helped breach a Chinese fort to turn its own cannons against the defenders.
Following his heroic service in China, Seach continued his naval career, ultimately achieving the rank of Lieutenant. His long service spanned multiple early 20th-century campaigns and World War I, leaving a legacy of exceptional versatility and dedication to the United States Navy.
