Wilson J. Vance was an American soldier who fought for the Union Army during the American Civil War, an author, a journalist and an editor. He received the Medal of Honor for valor.
Verified service: 21st Ohio Infantry, Company B. At Stones River on 31 December 1862, while his command fell back under heavy fire, he rescued a wounded and helpless comrade from death or capture. He later held the brevet rank of captain. Born 20 December 1845 in Findlay, Ohio; later worked as an author, journalist, and editor; died 10 November 1911 in Chattanooga and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
