Corporal (National Guard) Second Lieutenant (Army), U.S. Army
Albert Edward Baesel was an American Army officer who served during World War I. He began his military service as a Corporal in the National Guard before being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
During his service in France, Baesel demonstrated extraordinary heroism. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty during action near Ivoiry, France, which ultimately cost him his life.
His legacy remains honored as one of the American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefields of Europe during the Great War.
