Sergeant, British Army
Sergeant Albert Edward Curtis, VC, was an English soldier of the 2nd Battalion, East Surrey Regiment, British Army, and a recipient of the Victoria Cross. During the Second Boer War, he earned the VC at Onderbank Spruit, South Africa, on 23 February 1900, for repeatedly going under heavy fire to assist his severely wounded commanding officer, Colonel R. H. Harris. He later served as a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London.
