Sergeant, British Army
Sergeant Alfred Joseph Richards VC was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He served as a sergeant in the British Army. His actions during his service earned him the nation's premier award for valor, cementing his place in military history.
His Victoria Cross and other service medals were eventually purchased by Lord Ashcroft at an auction in 2005. They are currently held and displayed by the Imperial War Museum in London.
