Alfred Oliver Pollard

Captain Alfred Oliver Pollard was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. During his distinguished military service, he served as an officer, eventually reaching the rank of Captain in the Royal Air Force.

In addition to his Victoria Cross, Pollard was highly decorated for his actions, earning the Military Cross with a Bar, as well as the Distinguished Conduct Medal. His decorations highlight a remarkable record of bravery and leadership under fire during his service career.

Following his military service, Pollard transitioned to civilian life and became a highly prolific author. Writing under the name Captain A. O. Pollard, he published numerous crime and mystery books, establishing a successful second career as a novelist.
