Sir Arnold Horace Santo Waters was a British engineer and soldier who served with distinction during the First World War. He was a highly decorated officer, earning several of the most prestigious gallantry awards available to British and Commonwealth forces for his exceptional leadership and bravery in the field.
During his military service, Waters was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy. His actions during the war also earned him the Distinguished Service Order and the Military Cross, in addition to being Mentioned in Despatches. He was later appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire and created a Knight Bachelor.
Following his distinguished military career, his Victoria Cross was placed on display at the Royal Engineers Museum in Chatham, Kent, where his legacy as a military hero and pioneering engineer continues to be honored.
