Claud Ashton Jones

Claud Ashton Jones was an officer in the United States Navy who rose to the rank of Rear Admiral. Over his distinguished naval career, he was recognized for his extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession, which earned him the nation's highest military decoration.

Jones was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions while serving as a Lieutenant aboard the USS Memphis in August 1916. When the ship was struck by a series of colossal tidal waves off Santo Domingo, he displayed exceptional courage and leadership under extreme conditions, helping to save many lives and manage the engineering department during the disaster.

In addition to the Medal of Honor, his long and dedicated career in the U.S. Navy was recognized with the Legion of Merit, cementing his legacy as a highly decorated officer and a symbol of naval heroism.
