McCampbell's wartime service was further recognized through the American Defense Service Medal with the "A" Device, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with a Silver Service Star and two Bronze Service Stars, the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a Bronze Service Star, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal with the Asia Clasp. His continued service after the war earned him the National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, while his contributions to the liberation of the Philippines were recognized with the Philippine Liberation Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. Reflecting his dedication to professional excellence, he also qualified for the Navy Expert Rifleman Medal.
