Lieutenant Francis Newton Parsons VC was an officer in the British Army who served with the Essex Regiment during the Second Boer War. Educated at Dover College, he went on to serve his country in South Africa during the conflict, where his actions would earn him the nation's highest military honor.
He was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the premier award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be bestowed upon British and Commonwealth forces. His conspicuous bravery during the war cemented his place in British military history.
Today, his legacy is preserved through the public display of his Victoria Cross, which is held and exhibited at The Essex Regiment Museum in Chelmsford, Essex, England.
