Private Francis Morrison was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Serving in the U.S. Army, he distinguished himself during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign on June 17, 1864, where he performed actions that would later earn him the nation's highest military decoration.
For his gallantry in action during the campaign, Morrison was awarded the Medal of Honor. The prestigious decoration was officially issued to him several decades later, on April 4, 1898, cementing his legacy in American military history.
