Frederick Alber was a United States Army soldier who served during the American Civil War. He fought for the Union Army as a private in Company A of the 17th Michigan Infantry, participating in several of the war's most grueling campaigns.
On July 30, 1896, Alber was awarded the Medal of Honor, the United States' highest military decoration for valor, for his heroic actions on May 12, 1864, during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House in Virginia.
