Colonel George de Cardonnel Elmsall Findlay VC MC & Bar was a Scottish officer of the British Army's Royal Engineers. He was a highly decorated soldier who served with distinction during the First World War. His courage in action earned him the United Kingdom's most prestigious decorations for gallantry.
Findlay was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Alongside this supreme honor, his exceptional service was recognized with the Military Cross and a subsequent Bar, signifying a second award of the decoration.
Following his military career, his legacy has been preserved for future generations. His Victoria Cross is currently displayed and honored at the Royal Engineers Museum in Chatham, Kent, serving as a lasting testament to his bravery and service.
