George Nurse (VC)

George Edward Nurse VC was born in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Ireland. He was educated in Guernsey in the Channel Islands where both of his parents had been born. He became an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Nurse served as a Lieutenant in the British Army's Royal Artillery. His outstanding bravery during his military service earned him the nation's premier award for valor, cementing his place in British military history.

His Victoria Cross is preserved and displayed for the public at the Royal Artillery Museum in Woolwich, London, serving as a lasting testament to his courage and dedication to duty.
