Gerald Orren Young was a highly decorated United States Air Force officer who rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is best known for receiving the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his extraordinary heroism during the Vietnam War. Serving as a rescue helicopter pilot, Young demonstrated exceptional valor under fire during a mission to save downed American personnel.
