Gerry Herman Kisters was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in World War II.
Kisters distinguished himself through extraordinary heroism during the Sicily Campaign. For his actions, he was awarded both the Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross, making him one of the most highly decorated American soldiers of the war.
In addition to the nation's highest awards for valor, Kisters was wounded in action, earning the Purple Heart. He also received the Bronze Star Medal and several campaign medals for his service in the European-African-Middle Eastern theater.
