Sergeant, U.S. Army
Sergeant Henry F. Chandler was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Serving in the U.S. Army, he demonstrated exceptional bravery during the Second Battle of Petersburg in Virginia on 17 June 1864. This action later earned him the United States' highest military decoration.
For his heroic conduct during the battle, Chandler was honored with the Medal of Honor decades after the conflict on 30 March 1898. His service remains a testament to the dedication of Union soldiers during the pivotal campaigns of the Civil War.
