Howell B. Treat was an American soldier who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Serving at the rank of Sergeant, he demonstrated exceptional bravery during his military service.
Treat was awarded the Medal of Honor, his nation's highest decoration for valor, for his actions during combat. On May 11, 1864, at the Battle of Buzzard's Roost in Georgia, he risked his life under fire to save a wounded comrade.
He was officially honored with the Medal of Honor on February 20, 1884. His legacy remains as one of the distinguished Civil War soldiers recognized for gallantry in action.
