Biography
Israel Harding, VC was a distinguished sailor in the Royal Navy who served with exceptional gallantry during the late 19th century. He achieved the rank of Chief Gunner during his career of dedicated service.
He is best remembered for his action which earned him the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. His actions under fire cemented his legacy as a naval hero.
In addition to the Victoria Cross, Harding's exemplary service was recognized through official channels, including being Mentioned in dispatches for his conduct in action.
