James C. McCloughan is a former United States Army soldier and a combat medic who served during the Vietnam War. He is highly distinguished for his actions during the battle of Nui Yon Hill in May 1969, where he repeatedly risked his life to rescue and treat wounded soldiers under intense enemy fire. For his conspicuous gallantry, he was approved for the Medal of Honor in late 2016 and was formally presented the nation's highest military decoration on July 31, 2017, by President Donald Trump.
