John Brown Hamilton VC was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
Hamilton served in the British Army. His exceptional bravery in the face of the enemy earned him the nation's highest military honor.
His Victoria Cross is preserved for posterity and is currently displayed at the National War Museum of Scotland, located in Edinburgh Castle, after being delivered there by his daughter and grandson.
